Matt Waxman Nabs WSOP Circuit Atlantic City Main Event Title
With his victory at the WSOP Circuit Atlantic City main event, Matt Waxman bested 352-player field and hit the $1 million mark in career earnings (including live and online play). The $1,650 buy-in is the second-largest WSOPC main event field of the season. Many top players made the trip hoping to earn the next automatic entry into the WSOP’s national championship, which will be held in May 2011.
Waxman is a 25-year-old professional poker player from Parkland, Fla., plays online under the alias “BigStackBBQ” and has nine WSOP cashes — with five all coming in 2010. This was his second-largest Code Bonus Titan Poker score in his live career; he came sixth in the $5,000 six-handed NLHE event in 2009, which $138,393 went his way. However, online is where Waxman made his name, winning the prestigious Full Tilt Online Poker Series XIII main event for a cool $453,663. In that $500 buy-in event, Waxman bested a tough field of 5,306 for the win. Waxman battled with Jesus Cabrera for the heads-up and the Titan Poker Mac encounter included some tough beats for both players. The 46-year-old Cabrera earned $72,824 for his second-place finish.
